Funding over the past three years has come from a variety of sources: family foundations both within New Orleans and from around the country, some post Katrina funding from national organizations, individual contributions ranging from just a few to many thousands of dollars. We are now seeking a HUD based grant as well as continuing to build out a network of foundations and individuals to provide us with financial ongoing stability. The level of our successful outcomes in such a short period of time has more potential supporters interested in our model and its ability to support this neglected segment of our homeless population.
Volunteer housing is provided to those who come from outside New Orleans to work with us for 3 to 12 month periods. You can see much more about this and our complete program on our website, www.nolawomenshelter.org.

I would like to know the source(s) of the funds to run the shelter and the housing that Jackie mentioned that they provide for volunteers (if I understood correctly). It was so interesting that I wanted more information.
