Today's parade celebrating Israel on her 63rd anniversary was a huge success by any standards. 30,000 people participated in the parade, while tens of thousands attended to visibly support the Jewish state.
The parade marched up Fifth avenue. Marchers included many schools, synagogues, community groups, colleges, marching bands, musicians, dancers and many more. There were eye-catching signs, and a sea of blue and white balloons. Very visible was New York City's Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Although there were, as always, a small group of protesters, they were kept behind police barricades. The overwhelming majority of people present were there to celebrate Israel.
