Amyloidosis - A Rare Disease

Amyloidosis is a disease that is very often misdiagnosed.  Muriel Finkel was the caregiver for her uncle while he was suffering from amyloidosis.  There was no support group available other than Muriel's own family and friends, and doctors who had familiarity with amyloidosis were hard to find.  After her uncle passed away, Muriel founded an organization called Amyloidosis Support Groups to try and assist other victims of this awful disease and to give support and assistance to their families..

I have a neighbor who died of amyloidosis. I've been under the impression that it is always fatal. Is that not correct? I hope I'm wrong.

I never heard of this disease until I started reading about it on this website. I guess that's why it's a rare disease. I'm going to ask my doctor about it the next time I see him.

I found this interview very interesting. I am amazed to learn about all of the rare
diseases that exist in the USA. I can only imagine what is out there in the world.

I looked up the website and found it very interesting also.
