Muriel Finkel was born in Boston, Massachusetts.  While a student at Boston Latin High School her family moved to Chicago and she has lived in the Chicago area since that time.  Muriel attended college in Chicago and has an MS degree in Statistics.

Muriel is President of Finkel Supply, Inc., a company that she started in 1987.  Finkel Supply sells shipping and janitorial supplies (www.finkelsupply.com). 

Muriel's Uncle Norman was diagnosed with Amyloidosis; she and her husband Steve spent several years taking care of him.  It was at that point that both Muriel and Steve realized how little was known about the disease; in addition to having almost nowhere to turn to for medical advice, they discovered there was no support network available for either those suffering from Amyloidosis or their caretakers.  When her Uncle Norman passed away, Muriel founded Amyloidosis Support Groups (www.amyloidosissupport.com).  Amyloidosis Support Groups now has chapters throughout the United States and is available to assist those suffering from the disease, als well as their families. 

Muriel has been married to her husband Steve for 40+ years.  They have two married daughters.  Their four grandchildren are the joy of their lives.
