Meredith Cagen's career disappeared in the aftermath of 9/11 -- so she decided to write a book:  Size Eight In A Size Zero World. 
The protagonist, Lindsay, is an urban (New York City) wife and mother living in her husband's shadow.  She goes through a series of trials and tribulations and we observe her gradual transformation into an independent person.  The book is funny and a very enjoyable read.
