February 1, 2011 - 10:31pm Peter Suchmann In just 7 days more pollution emptied into Reynolds Channel on the South Shore of Long Island than all of the oil that spilled into the Gulf from the BP oil spill! Read on....... http://www.longislandpress.com/2010/12/16/bay-park-sewage-plant-dumping-... This link details the total failure of government to protect the public from catastrophic pollution right here on our beautiful Long Island south shore and the total negligence of parties involved....thank goodness there are watchdogs out there looking out for the public interest. Please publicize this issue and have concerned citizens write letters focusing on this "tip of the iceberg"----invariably there are many more coastal issues threatening our oceans, waterways and bays....and many other related environmental issues... Please encourage kids and adults to join, support and participate with www.operationsplash.net and www.surfrider.org as they try to stay one step ahead of the pollution.....Please also encourage students and teachers to visit the National Environmental Education Foundation website at http://www.neefusa.org/ as they prepare for Earth Week and Earth Day 2011. thanks...Pete Suchmann- member of Surfriders Sludge Stoppers Task Force (see us on Facebook) and retired science teacher and Educational Consultant - Producer of the Green Glove Video found at www.greenglovevideo.com which should be seen by every High School in the country.

Dear Peter,
We've never met; but I am so grateful for people like you, who "keep them honest", and educatea and remind us that this wonderful country is a gift to us and we must cherish it. If we don't take care of our environment then who will?
We need more like you and hope you continue with your valiant efforts.
Thanks so much.
Muriel
