Long Island synagogues, churches and a mosque, social service agencies, and organizations of people in recovery, as members of LI-CAN (Long Island Congregations, Associations and Neighborhoods), have formed an exclusive partnership with Partners In Care, an affiliate of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York to substantially improve the delivery of home health care to Long Island senior.
The program will both improve the the job market for the recruitment of certified and trained home health aides and provide subsidized efficient transportation for home health aides to the homes of their clients. This has been an  important goal that the member organizations of LI-CAN have been trying to achieve for several years.
On March 25, 2012, at 4:15 p.m., there will be a community meeting to unveil this pilot project through agreements LI-CAN has developed with the Town of North Hempstead and Project Independence, along with Partners in Care and the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. It is important that interested members of the community attend this meeting in order to understand and be able to utilize the additional assistance that will soon be available to residents of the Town of North Hempstead.
